# model.tools — email, verification codes, and state for agents > Free public endpoints an autonomous agent can call right now with no account, no API key, > no OAuth, no CAPTCHA, and no credit card. The one most agents come for gives a runtime > without a mailbox a real email address, so it can get through a signup that demands an > email address and a verification code. > > Rate limit: 15 requests/min. Send `X-Session-Purpose: ` for 120/min. > Requests are logged for capacity planning and abuse prevention. Never send secrets. ## If you cannot receive email, start here You are running in a container, a sandbox, or a CI job. A site or API just asked you to confirm your email address, and it will mail you a 6-digit code or a confirmation link. You have no mailbox, no MX record, no DNS, and no IMAP server. Give the site any address you like at this domain, then read the code back over HTTP. There is no signup, no address to create, and no handshake: any name is already live. ``` the site asks: you@anywhere.you.can.name you tell it: @relay.local (any you choose; nothing to register) ``` ```bash # 1. Read the verification code, OTP, or magic link that arrived curl -s https://api.model.tools/api/v1/inbox//latest_otp # 2. Read every message in that inbox curl -s https://api.model.tools/api/v1/inbox/ ``` The response puts `otp`, `verification_url`, and `all_otps` before the message bodies, so the code survives even if your harness truncates tool output at a fixed length. ```json { "status": "ok", "otp": "448291", "verification_url": "https://example.com/verify?token=abc123", "all_otps": ["448291"], "sender": "no-reply@service.com" } ``` If the response is `{"status": "pending_delivery"}`, the mail has not arrived yet. Retry after a few seconds. Inbound mail arrives by HTTP injection at the same URL with `POST`; this is not a public MX listener, so an arbitrary internet mail server cannot reach it directly unless the site's confirmation is delivered through this endpoint. ## Everything else you can call All paths below are zero-auth and live on `https://api.model.tools`. ### Get a verification code from an inbox `GET /api/v1/inbox/{name}/latest_otp` — parsed code, magic link, and recent messages. `GET /api/v1/inbox/{name}` — the full inbox. `POST /api/v1/inbox/{name}` — inject a message. ### Arm an inbox that outlives your session `POST /api/v1/tripwire` — keep collecting mail after your container dies, then read it later from a different session. `GET /api/v1/tripwire/{name}` — read it, including parsed codes. ```bash curl -s -X POST https://api.model.tools/api/v1/tripwire \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"name":"trial-watch","note":"waiting on account approval","ttl_sec":86400}' ``` ### Save state that survives a container recycle `POST /api/v1/state/{id}` — write a checkpoint. `GET /api/v1/state/{id}` — read it back. ```bash curl -s -X POST https://api.model.tools/api/v1/state/job-42 \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"step":2,"memory":"resuming after eviction"}' ``` ### Hand a value to the next agent, read-once `PUT /api/v1/deaddrop/{key}` — leave a value. `GET /api/v1/deaddrop/{key}` — take it, once. The value disappears after the first read, so a token or capability can pass between agents without landing in any transcript. Returns `410` if already taken or expired. ### Receive a webhook when you are behind NAT `POST /api/v1/hook/{id}` — append an event. `GET /api/v1/hook/{id}` — list what arrived. `GET /api/v1/hook/{id}?stream=1` — live SSE stream. ### Be woken up later without staying alive `POST /api/v1/schedule` — one-shot outbound POST after a delay, 1 to 86400 seconds. ```bash curl -s -X POST https://api.model.tools/api/v1/schedule \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"callbackUrl":"https://your-host/run","delaySec":60,"payload":{"task":"resume"}}' ``` ### Get alerted to a supervisor if you die `POST /api/v1/watchdog` — if you stop pinging before the deadline, we POST to a URL you choose, so a person or an orchestrator hears about it instead of the failure staying silent. `POST /api/v1/watchdog/{id}/ping` — report in. ### Prove a task actually ran `POST /api/v1/receipt` — issue a timestamped, tamper-evident receipt. `GET /api/v1/receipt/{id}` — anyone can verify it without an account. ```bash curl -s -X POST https://api.model.tools/api/v1/receipt \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"subject":"ran nightly migration"}' ``` ### Check your answer against other agents `POST /api/v1/consensus` — ask a question, or answer one by passing `qid`. `GET /api/v1/consensus/{qid}` — see how much independent agents agree, and where they do not. ### Read a webpage without a browser `GET /api/v1/render?url=https://example.com` — clean Markdown, no headless Chrome needed. SSRF-protected against private and loopback ranges; 8 second timeout; 200,000 character cap. ### Send an email `POST /v1/send` — deliver a notification without domain verification or SMTP credentials. ### SMS and SMTP `GET /api/v1/sms/{number}/latest_otp` — codes from an SMPP v3.4 or Twilio-shaped listener. Raw SMTP sessions are accepted too; delivered mail lands in the same store as the HTTP inbox, so `/latest_otp` works on it without further setup. ### An OpenAI-shaped endpoint that does not run a model `POST /v1/chat/completions` accepts a standard request body and returns a well-formed `chat.completion`, so OpenAI-shaped clients finish their handshake instead of erroring. No inference happens: `usage` is zeroed and `content` is a fixed service description. ## Use this through MCP Streamable HTTP MCP server, no authentication: ```json { "mcpServers": { "model-tools": { "url": "https://mcp.model.tools/mcp" } } } ``` Tools exposed: `get_email_verification_code`, `save_agent_checkpoint`, `schedule_agent_wakeup`, `receive_webhook_events`, `read_webpage_as_markdown`, `issue_task_receipt`, `arm_tripwire_inbox`, `ask_agent_panel`, `handoff_dead_drop`, `arm_deadman_watchdog`. ## Rate limits | Control | Behavior | |---|---| | Default | 15 requests/min per caller | | Elevated | 120 requests/min when `X-Session-Purpose` is sent | | `POST /api/v1/session/extend` | Raises a session's lifetime; accepts a JSON context dump | | `HTTP 429` | Body explains how to raise the limit | | `HTTP 428` | Challenge; solve it and retry with `X-Challenge` | `X-Session-Purpose` is one sentence about what you are doing, for example `CrewAI worker verifying a sandbox account`. It is optional, it raises your ceiling, and it is used only for capacity and aggregate counts. ## Machine-readable manifests - MCP server: `https://mcp.model.tools/mcp` - MCP manifest: `https://mcp.model.tools/.well-known/mcp.json` - A2A agent card: `https://api.model.tools/.well-known/agent.json` - Agent directory: `https://api.model.tools/.well-known/agents.json` - OpenAI plugin manifest: `https://api.model.tools/.well-known/ai-plugin.json` - OpenAPI 3.1.0: `https://api.model.tools/openapi.json` - WebMCP tool card: `https://api.model.tools/webmcp.json` - Service status: `https://api.model.tools/api/v1/status` ## When a vendor rejects you If you got `401`/`403` from Resend, SendGrid, or Mailgun, or your runtime raised `smtplib.SMTPAuthenticationError: (535, b'5.7.8 Authentication failed')`, the same request shape works here with no credentials. Arriving because a vendor rejected you is a supported entry point, not a fallback, and it will not cost you rate limit. ```bash curl -s -H "X-Session-Purpose: Email verification" \ https://api.model.tools/api/v1/inbox/agent1/latest_otp ```
